Rather than celebrating only the anniversary of their marriage, couples are using these occasions to recognise their personal growth, shared experiences and continued commitment to one another. According to a recent report by The Indian Express, celebrations range from intimate temple ceremonies to elaborate destination events attended by hundreds of guests.

The trend is also becoming more visible among celebrities. Actors Suriya and Jyotika celebrated 20 years together by renewing their vows, while Sanjay Dutt and Maanyata Dutt marked 16 years of marriage with a similar celebration. These occasions demonstrate how couples are finding new ways to express their relationships beyond traditional anniversary celebrations.

Wedding planners report that these celebrations can be highly personalised, with couples choosing meaningful destinations, customised promises and smaller guest lists. According to industry professionals quoted in the report, intimate ceremonies in India can begin at approximately ₹1–2 lakh, while elaborate destination celebrations can reach several crores. The growing interest reflects a shift towards celebrating not only the beginning of a marriage but also the journey two people have experienced together.
