A Chicago newborn dies after a 15-year-old girl gave birth at Aldridge Elementary School in the city’s Riverdale neighbourhood, according to police. The birth took place at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, 28 October, and the baby was pronounced dead at the scene. The teenager was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where police said she was in good condition. Her identity has not been released because she is a minor.

What Do Officials Know So Far?

What is known about the circumstances surrounding the birth? Authorities have confirmed the location and the approximate time, but several details remain unclear. It was not immediately clear why the teenager was at the school, and there is no publicly confirmed information about what led to the baby’s death.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office listed the location of the death as 630 E. 131st Street, which is the school’s address. Police said Area 2 detectives are investigating the death, and several police cars remained outside the school into the evening.

Reaction From the School

Chicago Public Schools did not immediately respond to a request for comment when the incident was first reported, and school officials had not issued a statement at the time of the early reports. Authorities have not released further details about the events leading up to the birth.

For now, the investigation is continuing, and further information may become available as the inquiry progresses. Until officials release their findings, the circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death remain unconfirmed.
