Ashok recorded a six-under-par 66 on Saturday, bringing her three-round total to 12-under-par 204. Her performance has placed her within striking distance of the leaders heading into Sunday's final round.

The Indian golfer opened the tournament with a 70 before improving to 68 in the second round. Her third-round 66 represented her strongest performance of the week, keeping her hopes of securing a major LPGA Tour victory alive.

Japan's Miyu Yamashita leads the competition at 13-under-par, just one stroke ahead of Ashok. Spain's Julia Lopez Ramirez and France's Pauline Roussin-Bouchard share second place at 11-under-par.

A Strong Asian Swing for the Indian Golfer

Ashok's performance in Malaysia follows a series of appearances across Asia.

She previously finished tied 51st at the Buick LPGA Classic in China and tied 29th at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea.

The five-time Ladies European Tour winner has continued to demonstrate her competitiveness on the international stage, representing India's growing presence in professional women's golf.

Final Round Could Bring a Major Opportunity

With only one round remaining, Ashok has an opportunity to challenge for the championship. A strong final-day performance could potentially place her among the leading contenders for the title.

The Maybank Championship carries a prize fund of US$3 million, attracting leading international players to Malaysia.

For Indian golf supporters, Ashok's performance represents an encouraging development and another opportunity for the country to make its mark on the global women's golf circuit.

All attention now turns to Sunday's final round, where the championship will be decided.
